Description Myrrh Gum – Ogadain Pieces Myrrh is the natural dried resin of the Commiphora myrrha tree, which grows in Somalia, Yemen, and eastern Ethiopia. Ogadain myrrh forms small, irregular pieces of aromatic resin that have been used for thousands of years as incense, perfume, and in traditional medicine. When burned on charcoal, myrrh produces a warm, earthy fragrance. Resin incense is burned in many cultures before meditation and prayer, after cooking, and to cleanse or refresh the home. Myrrh is also one of the traditional ingredients used in Jewish holy incense. In ethnomedicine, myrrh has been used for its antiseptic properties and is sometimes included in mouthwashes, gargles, and toothpaste. It is also used in some liniments and salves for minor skin abrasions. Traditionally, myrrh has been recommended for toothaches and used in preparations for bruises, aches, and sprains.
