This little pearl in the Indian Ocean has a rich rum-making tradition. A lot of industrial rum is being produced in Mauritius, but three traditional craft distilleries continue the French tradition producing distinctive and refined rums from pure sugarcane juice. Labourdonnais was founded in 2006 as a resurrection of the old ‘Rhumerie des Mascareignes’. The youngest of the artisanal distilleries, it combines the most modern techniques with tradition and know-how. Labourdonnais Rums are a perfect reflection of Mauritius.
